Water Guide : Hard VS Soft Water
Water becomes hard after containing high amount of minerals like calcium and magnesium. Although these nutirents are good for us, excessive aounts could be rather annoying as it can be rather unhealthy for the heart, arteries and bones as they would get deposited outside these structures and not inside them where they can be useful.
Soft water on the other hand happens when these minerals are removed by passing and exchanging the calcium and Magnesium for Sodium and Potassium. The good part is that it lessens the deposits and build up of the minerals, BUT it can also mean that softer metals and plastic pipes could be dissolved and harmful toxic substances can leech itself easily onto soft water and end up in our drinking cups....
Another potential problem is that this could lead to kidney failure due to the increased intake of potassium.
