Minerals Guide : Iron

Iron's most important functioin is the production of hemoglobin and myoglobin and the oxygenation of red blood cells and the mineral that is found in the largest amount in the human body.
It is necessary for many enzymes, growth and also a healthy immune system.

Deficiency in iron can lead to intestinal bleeding, high phosphorus contentm poor digestion and etc.
Menstruating women may be more prone to this deficiency than men and would also include a difficulty in swallowing, digestive disturbances, dizziness, fatigue, fragile bones, obesity, slowed mental reactions and nervousness.

Iron can be found in eggs, fish, liver, meat, almonds, avocados, peaches, rice, raisins, alfalfa, catnip. raspberry etc.

IMPORTANT NOTE : (Applies throughout the Mineral Guide section)
These minerals are not to be mistaken with those that are found in the school's chemistry labs and NO you cannot eat a rusty iron nail to get your daily iron intake.
ALSO, unless you are diagnosed with Iron Deficiency or having your Menstrual Cycle, you should not take Iron supplements as it can react in a negative way if in excess.
