Minerals Guide : Calcium

Calcium is necessary in the formation of strong bones and teeth and also for the maintenance of strong gums. Not only that, it also regulates the heartbeat and aids in the transmition of nerval impulses.
It can also help in the reduction of cholesterol levels, helps prevent cardiovascular diease, lower blood pressure and prevent bone lost. ( If you are suffering high blood pressure during pregnancy, it can be reduced with the intake of calcium ).

A deficiency in calcium can lead to joint aches, brittle nails, eczema, increased blood cholesterol, hypertension, insomia, muscle cramps, nervousness, numbness and tooth decay.

Calcium can be found in dairy foods, salmon bones, seafood, seaweed and dark leafy vegetables.

Note that calcium are more effective taken in smaller dosea and synergised with Magnesium. Also note that production of Calcium using a compound called D1-calcium-phosphate is rather insoluble and would interfere with the absorption of other nutrients.
A way to test this is to crush the calcium pill into powder form and pour a little lime juice onto it. Natural calcium will render that solution tastless and with out bubbling residue. The other lab produced form will and may have the opposite effect.

IMPORTANT NOTE : (Applies throughout the Mineral Guide section)
These minerals are not to be mistaken with those that are found in the school's chemistry labs and NO you cannot eat a rusty iron nail to get your daily iron intake.
